Seattle, WA – January, 2005 –  The enormous devastation left by the recent Tsunami can be felt at every corner of the globe.  At the time of this article, the death toll is over 155,000 with numbers climbing daily. More than 500,000 people were injured, and tens of thousands are still missing.  Due to the fact that many victims were swept into the ocean or buried under rubble, the final death toll may never be known.  An estimated 5 million people are left homeless and destitute, with one million homeless in Indonesia alone.

Presented by the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, the Award Recognizes Ms. Turton's Continued Success and Commitment to the Community  POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NEW JERSEY (January 3, 2005) -Diane Turton, president, owner and broker of record for Diane Turton, Realtors, was recently presented the "2004 ATHENATM Award" by the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce (WMCC) during its 19th annual ATHENA Award luncheon.  The award program celebrates the potential of all women as valued members and leaders of the community. Ms. Turton was also recognized for her efforts to counsel, encourage and mentor women who are entering the workforce, moving forward in their careers or returning to work. Arthur R. Kondrup, president and CEO, WMCC, said "Diane was honored with this award because of her dedication toward the highest levels of professional accomplishment.  She continues to excel in the real estate industry while also devoting her time and energy to the communities that the company serves."The ATHENA Award program was created in 1982 by a chamber of commerce in Michigan with the goal of focusing on outstanding women professionals and executives in the community. A second goal was to open leadership opportunities for women in the chamber of commerce and the community's workplaces. The WMCC is currently the only chamber of commerce in New Jersey to honor deserving individuals with this prestigious award.  Ms. Turton said, "It truly was a privilege just to be nominated for the prestigious ATHENA Award which is known nationally. According to reports from Douglas Elliman and Brown Harris Stevens — considered the industry's two most influential market reports — the high-end luxury market has taken a substantial dip in the last few reporting periods.
